Reasonable Eating: The Algorithms

This is the 13 week Reasonable Eating programme delivered one week at a time. It's open source as in 'free' and all you need to do is apply the algorithms, get into great shape and tell everyone about it.

Good luck.

Although you won't need it.

(btw anything that was sent out before you joined is available here in the archives:

And here's some background for anyone who wants to know a bit more about it:

The Power of HOW

I'm fortunate enough to have now over 50,000 students worldwide following my 'One Thing at a Time' programmes and one of the questions I get asked a lot is this:

The sub-text of all these questions is always the same:

It's coming from your script. (For more on the script, click here: http://vimeo.com/35617479)

This is the reason why I've been hesitant to show you exactly what I do. It's my fear of giving your script the opportunity to throw a seed of doubt into the mix.

It's the fear of your script going straight into, 'well, it's alright for you Tom, but I'm not like you.'

I call it 'Superman Syndrome'. Superman does his stuff, blocks trains, flies the wrong way around the world to reverse time, etc and the script says stuff like - 'well of course HE can do it, just look at him…'

This is the reason people often don't really try: they misinterpret the great successes of successful people, olympic athletes, business people, writers, musicians, etc.

They think that the end product, the superstar, is who started the journey. (And it doesn't help that programmes like X-Factor and american idol reinforce this myth btw...)

This is a significant problem, because then the script has an opportunity to compare you, in your current state, with this end product and say stuff like:

Yeah, but you could never do that…

…you don't have the to do that.

…but you don't have the  to do that.

…but you can't afford the to do that.

…but you haven't got the to stick to the training.

People just don't believe me when I tell them I really am an average Joe, with pretty much average willpower and that I just use a great system. (Admittedly, I have been honing it for years…)

In some ways, I wish I WAS better. I wish I could say how great I was (we all do, come on) and how much incredible self-discipline I've got etc. but I really can't.

This is how your sub-conscious works when I tell you what I've achieved using the system:

And your script then sets up a chain reaction of thoughts that goes something like this:

> That's a hell of a lot of stuff

> Crikey Moses, I could never do that

> Oh I guess I'm not like Tom then

> OK, this is not going to work for me

And guess what? When you're in your script, you're completely right.

But would you CHOOSE to think like that?

Would you CHOOSE to believe that you were different?

Would you CHOOSE to believe that you couldn't take your current level of willpower and follow the system, achieving greater success than you've ever imagined?

Would you CHOOSE to believe that your past will necessarily define your future?

Of course not.

(And if you're really not sure - just think of a significant 5 year old kid in your life; child, grandchild, nephew, etc. and ask yourself if you'd choose those beliefs for them.)

Anyway, so how did I solve the yeah-but-I'm-not-like-you problem?

About 9 months ago I came up with a neat solution, and here is that answer:

DON'T just tell people how to use the 13x4 to get whatever they want.

DON't just tell them what you did and what you achieved.

SHOW them what you did, and take them through HOW you did it, step by step, showing them exactly how you applied this to your own life.

Take people through the EXACT steps and THEN tell them what you achieved.

To cannabalise Eckhart Tolle's catchphrase:

So, I decided to write a series of books on how I've managed to get extraordinary results in various areas of my life, through applying nothing more than 'reasonable algorithms'.

I haven't had to adopt a commando-like fanaticism to achieve any of these things, all I've done is the following.

1. Consider an area of ordinary everyday living that applies to everyone.

2. Work out the biggest problem in this area.

3. Design a bunch of 'reasonable algorithms' to solve the problem.

4. Put the algorithms into a reasonable system: the 13x4

5. Get great results.

6. Tell everyone about it.

And guess what area I took on first?

The biggest problem of them all (in the developed world) today:

Eating.

Yes, something as mundane, as prosaic as eating.

Hell, I eat as well you know. And so do most people I've met. And the biggest problem specifically is that we do it wrong. Very wrong.

It's not our fault though. There's the global multi-trillion dollar food industry helping most of us make a complete balls-up of what is really not that tricky at all.

My first 2 books on problem-solving have been published in 5 languages so far and all those books do is tackle geeky Logic, Mathematics and Science problems.

Great fun, but in the grand scheme of things, essentially frivolous compared with tackling the problems of food, eating, diets, health, energy and longevity.

This is the big stuff. And of all the things I've done so far, this is the one that I'm most excited about.

And if you want to know the results, you have to know the starting point right?

So, that's why I've waited until now. You can go back and look at any pictures of me you like, and the videos from December 2011 that are in the Everyday Mind Mastery course on Udemy and on Youtube.

Around 6 months after I applied the system to Eating, you'll see the difference. The only before and after proof where you actually see the before BEFORE and not after.

I could tell you all about how much weight I've lost.

I could tell you all about how much fat I've shed.

I could tell you all about how many belt-notches I've gone down.

I could tell you all about how much energy I now have, how much better I feel, how I am, at 45, in the best shape of my life.

But, really, you won't care about that until you see how easy it's all been. Until you see the algorithms and think:

That's what Reason-Ability is all about.

It's the ability for reasonable people to do reasonable things yet get extraordinary results.

Reason-Ability

I feel grateful that these ideas, this system was 'downloaded' to me, as I'm doing my best to tell everyone about it, as quickly as I possibly can.

I have no doubt that this system will change a lot of people's lives. So, get involved and enjoy the experience.
