Quibinar #30 - Origins Of A.I. (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE)
When Did Today’s AI Start?
Today’s AI begins in 1955 when John McCarthy organized a conference on “Artificial Intelligence,” along with Alan Turing, Marvin Minsky, Allen Newell and Herbert A. Simon.
McCarthy was the one who coined the term “Artificial Intelligence,” in 1955 and organized the famous Dartmouth conference in the summer of 1956. This conference started AI as a field of study.
John McCarthy (MIT), invented the LISP language in 1958. LISP stands for List Programming and was the first AI programming language.
Examples of Artificial Intelligence
Google Echo to Amazon’s Alexa, Netflix, Uber, Lyft, Chatbots, Tesla, you are now surrounded by AI.
One of the main drivers for AI is the world of digital and social media.
Smartphones and social media like Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, Snapchat, etc.
Imagine what our world will be like in 5 years.
Real-Life Examples
NASA is using deep-learning to make intelligent robots to explore places in space where humans cannot go.
Voyager 1 left our solar system.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has applied machine learning to their cybersecurity after a 3-day conference.
