The event was attended by more than 100 specialists from all over Spain and 2 days were organized, continuing with the teaching spirit of the SATO Seminars , on the afternoon of Friday 29 a more general and practical day was held with introductory talks on Sonoanatomy and Sonopathology, as well such as the use made of ultrasound by other specialties related to Traumatology. The afternoon ended with an interesting practical workshop with the use of 12 Echographs and 3D Phantoms for Sonoanatomy practices, punctures and echo-guided techniques.
On the Day of Saturday 30 we have recognized specialists from the national scene who have been incorporating the Eco-MSK in their daily clinical practice for years in the treatment of multiple pathologies both in consultation ( Eco-guided Therapies ), and in Operating Room ( Eco-assisted Surgery) .
The Seminar was officially inaugurated on Saturday 30 by the President of the Andalusian Society of Traumatology and orthopedic expert witness (SATO) (Dr. Juan José Ballester Alfaro), the Vice President of the College of Physicians of Seville (Dr. Rodríguez Sacristán) and the Director of the Seminar (Dr. Pedro Bernáldez Domínguez).
This Seminar has been a successful participation with great attendance of traumatologists and related specialties (rehabilitation, sports traumatology, rheumatology, anesthesia-pain units, radiology, family medicine and emergencies, physiotherapy, and podiatry), very involved in the practices and in theory sessions. The program has been developed by Prestigious Speakers with extensive experience in this field of specialty.
As conclusions of the Seminar, a great interest was agreed in the application of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSK) in Traumatologist's offices as a diagnostic and therapeutic complement. This practice should be extended to all orthopedists, especially the younger ones.
We are grateful for the dedication and support of the SATO Technical Secretariat ( MCE ), the collaboration of the different commercial houses, and General Electric for offering all the ultrasound equipment. The Seminar has been sponsored by SECOT, SETRADE and SEMED .
From SATO we must congratulate Dr. Bernáldez, Director of the 81st SATO Seminar, for the success of this magnificent scientific event and thank him for his effort and dedication to organizing it.
Chronicle of the LXXVIII Seminary
Last weekend, on January 19 and 20, 2018, The 78th Seminar of the Andalusian Society of Traumatology and Orthopedics (SATO) on the diabetic foot and the Charcot foot took place at the Hotel Córdoba Center, organized by Dr. Rafael Training Increase of the Foot and Ankle Unit of the Reina Sofía University Hospital de Córdoba and Dr. Manuel Mesa Ramos from the Locomotor Unit of the North Sanitary Area of Córdoba.
The upward trend in the prevalence of diabetes encourages an increase in the number of severely unstructured feet that come to our consultations due to the so-called Charcot neuroarthropathy, prompted this to be the topic of the 78th SATO Seminar. The objectives set by the scientific committee were:
Greater awareness of diabetes
• Bringing young doctors closer to this serious orthopedic problem
• Deepen the knowledge of the origin and treatment of Charcot foot
• Demand an orderly and multidisciplinary treatment of diabetes in which the orthopedic surgeon must be unavoidably present.
