WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is aimed at both complete beginners and intermediate students. If you are new to Tai Chi, then you will find the explanations, exercises and documentary sections easy to understand, easy to follow and simple to do. From the first class you will be practising Tai Chi, studying Chinese philosophy and learning to apply the lessons to your everyday life.
If you have done some Tai Chi before, then you will appreciate this back to basics approach with a broad 21st century practical perspective. Unlike local classes, this course delves into history, culture and applications that are rarely provided in weekly group sessions.
"I just loved this course! For me, Paul has touched the heart of Tai Chi, and inspired us to live it every day. Inspirational, definitely not stuffy, great videos and wonderful music!" J.C
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST AND WHAT DO I GET IN THIS COURSE?
The course takes around 12 months to complete. Video classes, PDF's, eBooks and other materials are divided into 12 Comprehensive Workshops.
If you subscribe monthly, you will receive one workshop per month. Each workshop is named after a Tai Chi Posture and includes 15-20 training sessions including: exercises, postures, breathing patterns and applications organised specifically around each month's theme.
Each Monthly Workshop includes:
- Movement and warm-up exercises linked to the posture of the month
- Breathing exercises linked to the posture of the month
- Tai Chi Form training in that month's move
- Tai Chi applications for the month's posture
- Discussions/documentary-style videos, musical and artistic investigations into Taoist history and culture
- An eBook/workbook based on each month's theme and posture
- Tai Chi music
- Monthly Tai Chi News Updates including special PDF's and Worksheets
WHAT TAI CHI FORM WILL I LEARN?
You will learn the basic dozen postures familiar in most styles. I break down each move into it's fundamental components, relating each to breathing and postural work, as well as applications and relevance for us in the 21st century. The dozen moves can be repeated on both sides, creating a Short Form of approximately 24 moves.
Take a look at this video. It will help give you an idea of how the Form on both sides is played out. Can you spot the transition movement when I change from one side to another?
HOW DO I PAY FOR THIS COURSE?
There are two ways to pay.
- A monthly subscription charge of £15.95* a month for 12 months. Access to one workshop each month (15-20 training sessions)
- Or a one-off charge of £150* (works out at £12.50 a month) Gets access to all workshops immediately so you can skip ahead and work as fast as you wish.
*Gumroad is legally obliged to add VAT to this price if purchasing within Europe
What happens at the end of the 12 months?
You will continue to have access to all course materials - forever. Remember too that the materials are yours to download and keep each month.
What if I am already studying Tai Chi?
You will find this approach a little different, but hopefully inspiring and still complimentary. Yes it is true that all schools offer variations on postures and movements, but in this course I try to go beyond those differences and look at the roots of the move and more importantly, what they imply for all of us as 21st century dwellers. You should find all the exercises, postural work, breathing and positions helpful irrespective of what style you have practised.
How do I view the Course Material?
You will receive an email each month that provides links to each workshop, the same way you access any other subscription course I offer on the Gumroad platform.
Access the material using your desktop/laptop or via the mobile app for tablets and phones on both Android and IOS devices. Unlike courses on other platforms, I give you the choice to view, stream or download the content as you wish.
How is this course different from the other Tai Chi courses you offer?
The other courses I offer via Gumroad are short introductions to specific sections of Tai Chi - such as Breath, Posture or Form moves. As this course is more extensive and offers more classes, we have to time to combine all these elements together, and put them into context: As I mentioned earlier, breathing exercises are related to moves, that are related to warm-up exercises, that are in turn are related to history and their applications today.
This is what makes this course unique: How we apply the lessons to our everyday lives, how we can learn from the fascinating history of the art and how we can apply the ideas to the problems we face in the 21st century.
What if I have a question that is not answered here?
Write to me at any time: firstname.lastname@example.org or find me on social media as teapotmonk and I'll try my best to answer any questions you have.
Now go drink tea...
Remember that in this course we are going to take a different approach to learning: we are going to play rather than study. Playing means we experiment, we "have-a-go" and we laugh when we don't always get it right first time.
This helps us feel more relaxed as we learn, less tense and less anxious. This is why you will find plenty of light-hearted references, easy to learn moves and lots of different approaches to Tai Chi.
But just to reassure you, I will be taking you step-by-step though all the different aspects of the art - backed up by written material, sound files, downloadable eBooks, documentaries and 360 degree posture videos.
There has never been another Tai Chi course like it. I am certain you will love every step you will take with me, on this new Tai Chi Journey.
