As a Producer I bought and used many sound effects and had created many in the studio. My biggest challenge was getting a great recording of nature sounds.
I got the idea that I could use the sound of the ocean for some relaxation CDs I was working on - piece of cake right? . . . WRONG
When you record the ocean. all you want hear is the ocean. No people, no birds, no planes, etc., well you get the idea. Also you want it to be one continuous recording, not a loop. Wow!
For three months I traveled the Island Of Oahu in Hawai'i trying to get that perfect, uninterrupted recording of "The Ocean".
I finally found the perfect spot near Mokuleia, now all I needed was the perfect night. Every night for a week I drove to the other side of the Island, set up my recording equipment, and went to sit in the car for an hour or so. Then I would take the recording to the studio the next day and check what I recorded the night before. Four of the seven recordings were quite good, but one was excellent and 107 minutes in length. I was ecstatic!
I released a CD version of it and in 2002 it won Meditation CD Of The Year.
