Osgood Schlatters is a repetitive strain injury. Common in active children and teenagers it occurs when the bone below the knee cap becomes irritated by the action of the quadriceps muscles during sport and exercise.
The following symptoms are associated with Osgood Schlatters:
- Acute pain around the knee cap.
- A painful bump just below the knee.
- Tenderness when the affected area is touched or pressed.
- Pain which is worse during or immediately after exercise.
- There may be difficulty standing, weight bearing and walking.
Osgood Schlatters is not serious but tends to get worse over time if left untreated.
Our treatment guide will show you how to manage the pain and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Strengthening and mobilisation exercises will help you achieve normal pain free movement and prevent re-injury.
