Eliza Bryant Village has the impressive distinction of being the nation’s oldest continually operating African American-founded long-term care community. Mr. Williams will discuss policies and procedures, resources, and anecdotes of caring for a predominately minority population during COVID-19, the pandemic virus disproportionately affecting minority and older populations. He will share how Eliza Bryant Village has (thus far) survived the threat of co-morbidities, financial difficulties, and politics that affect the predominately African American population it serves.

Objectives:

Discuss the impact and mitigation of COVID-19 on racial and ethnic minority populations, particularly older populations

Examine co-morbidities that are unique to and/or disproportionately affect racial and ethnic long-term care residents during the pandemic
