ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
By popular demand, you're invited to join me for a 3-hour chop-centric workshop. Two levels are offered—one for beginning choppers (Saturday), and one for intermediates (Sunday). The overall format of the workshops will be the same with the content tailored to the level. Included will be chopping fundamentals and building blocks, short exercises becoming longer grooves, different time signatures, and an understanding of necessary chop notation. Questions will always be welcome, and I expect we'll need to cover a bit of chord harmony and doublestops along the way. Please see specific workshop days for more information regarding levels and content covered.
ABOUT THE PRIVATE LESSONS
As an add-on to the workshop, five 1/2hr private lesson spots are available on a first-come/first-served basis following the workshop. (See lesson time window above.) We can focus on any subject you like. Lesson+Workshop must be purchased as package. Upon purchase, you will receive a PDF with instructions for Lesson Signup and the workshop.
PREREQUISITES
- Skill Level (Overall)
This workshop is intended for beginning choppers, but you should have a minimum of 5-10 years experience with your instrument and consider yourself an intermediate (or more) overall. You should be able to learn by ear and have a basic knowledge of music theory.
- Chopping Level
No previous experience with chopping is necessary. As a beginning chopper taking this workshop, I would guess you've heard about the technique, have heard people do it, perhaps attempted it but have no idea what you're doing, or never really tried it but are keen to see what the excitement is all about.
IN PREPARATION
- Highly Recommended
While it's understood you don't have much experience with this technique yet, I strongly recommend you read through and watch the accompanying video (both free). I can also suggest my lessons. Any investigative work done beforehand will be rewarded with quicker understanding of the techniques.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Instrument
Webcam Device (computer recommended)
Speakers or Headphones
INSTRUCTIONS TO ATTEND
Upon purchase, you will receive a link to a document that will include instructions for using Zoom along with the login and password for the workshop. On the day of the workshop, you will receive sheet music and play-alongs. A few days after the workshop, I will share the video for your reference.
Thanks & looking forward!
