WHY SHOULD YOU SHARE YOUR STORY?
People don't connect to facts anymore.
You can fill your powerpoint with stats, and people won't care.
You can quote famous speakers all you want, and people won't care.
You can fill your speech with fancy words and visual aids, and people won't care.
People don't care about the speech, they care about the speaker.
They want to know YOU. Who are you? What do you have to say? Why should they listen?
The most credible aspect you can bring to the stage is your story. What you've been through. What your life has taught you. How those lessons can help others.
That is what is important – inserting YOU into your speech. Whether you're on a keynote stage or in a boardroom, the one thing I've learned from coaching all types of speakers, is that YOUR STORY SELLS. It sells you, your message, and your audience on buying into you and what you have to say.
