Master the Fundamentals of Houdini in this Step by Step Course for Absolute Beginners.

Introduction & why I developed this course.
There is a lack of Houdini courses for complete beginners.
Initially, I found it hard to learn Houdini. Most of the available courses did not cover the foundations that I needed to feel comfortable with the software – they only provided a brief overview of the topic and would, therefore, skip vitally important information.
It was hard to find a course that did not assume prior knowledge in, for example, Max or Maya. I had some prior experience with Modo, Maya, and Blender, but a complete beginner would have found it discouraging and difficult to learn from most of these courses.
Houdini can be intimidating, even to those already familiar with other tools since tutorials often include programming or some weird manipulation of geometry. Most will get discouraged and could stop using the software due to how difficult or unfamiliar the software may seem, and due to a lack of beginner-friendly instruction.
That’s why I created this course. With a properly structured and step-by-step curriculum, anyone that puts in the required time and effort can learn Houdini, and you’ll see it’s not really that difficult - it’s just different.
Who is this course/series intended for?
This course is for you if...
- You have minimal or no experience - we start from the very basics.
- You want detailed and slow-paced instruction instead of just a quick overview.
This course is not for you if...
- You want a quick-start guide to Houdini (it takes time to explain the intricacies of the software)
What are the Requirements?
- PC capable of running Houdini (course recorded on a windows machine).
- Internet connection capable of streaming 1080p video (Lessons are downloadable).
Do I need to buy Houdini Indie or FX?
We use Houdini Apprentice for most of the modules since the course is aimed at complete beginners, so you won’t need to buy any software to start learning Houdini. In fact, I'll be using Apprentice myself to make sure that, if I can do something in the software, the student can do it too.
In future modules, when we discuss the creation of game assets and the interoperability with other applications, then we may need to use Houdini Indie.
The Module Guide for the specific module will specify whether or not Houdini Indie is required.
An Armoury Membership is not your typical subscription service. With a more typical subscription site, you'll only have access to their content whilst you have an active subscription.
With Our Membership, you can download and keep the lessons that are added whilst your membership is active, so essentially you keep what you've paid for. You just won't get new additions or updates to existing content after your membership expires, that is, should you decide to cancel your membership.
The reason for membership is that we want to build a sustainable course that we can add to and improve with time.
Houdini Armoury Goals
Outlined here are some of our goals for the Houdini Armoury.
- 150-200 Members - Work begins on the construction of a studio.
- A more feature rich (and thus more expensive) platform.
We have many short & long-term plans for the Armoury. Most of the income that we generate from our members/supporters goes back into building more high-quality content.
I hope you are excited about learning Houdini, and that you'll become a member of our Armoury. I believe learning Houdini is an excellent investment.
Thanks for your support. Every new member makes a difference.
