An Illustrated Advent: Engaging Practices for the Season

Artist and pastor Adam Walker Cleaveland has been providing unique and engaging art for children his past fall, and there has been a very positive response to it. Now he has joined up with his wife, Sarah (also a pastor), to put together An Illustrated Advent: Engaging Practices for the Season. This comes in two editions - this Family Edition, and an accompanying Church Edition (which you can buy here).

This Family Edition includes the following:

Family Devotions: There are 4 family devotions (for the four weeks of Advent) that your family can do while sitting around the dinner table or while getting ready for bed. They are low prep, but very meaningful and a helpful way to engage your kids in faith conversations at home. They also include activities that can be done throughout the week. They are appropriate for all age levels.

Five Bible Story Coloring Sheets: There are five coloring sheets that tell the story of the birth of Jesus.

Advent Calendar: Included is an Advent Activity Calendar, which will provide you with some activities that your kids can do by themselves, some you can all do as a family, and some that will require you to get out and get into your community.

Flat Wise Men: What? Think of something like a hybrid between the Elf on the Shelf and Flat Stanley. And that's what the Flat Wise Men are. Your kids will love them.

Use With the Church Edition

If you are buying this for your family, you could always suggest to your Children's Ministry person at church that they could look at the Church Edition. They can both be used individually - but there is a similar illustration style and it's possible your church may really enjoy something like the Church Edition.
