Thoracic Outlet Syndrome occurs when the nerves and arteries that supply the arm become compressed between the muscles and bones of the neck. Often it presents as an unpleasant combination of neck, shoulder and arm pain.
The following symptoms are associated with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome:
- Pain in the neck and shoulder which radiates down into the arm and hand.
- Numbness, tingling or pins and needles into the arm and hand.
- There may be weakness into the shoulder muscles or a loss of grip strength in the hand.
- Tightness and pain when looking over the shoulder or nodding the head.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome is not a serious condition but can become a recurring problem if left untreated.
Our treatment guide will show you how to manage the pain and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Strengthening and mobilisation exercises will help you achieve normal pain free movement and prevent re-injury.
