PRODUCTION NOTE:
Much of this depends on the actor’s ability to transition his acting performance from young graduate propelled through life to his own son’s graduation.  Funny, to nervous, to awkward, to uncomfortable, to sad, to proud.  The College graduation can be substituted for a High School, depending on your audience.

THOUGHTS
"Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Each man's life is but a breath.” – Psalm 39:4-5

“Time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping, into the future.”  Steve Miller

When driving, watching the mile markers only makes time goes slower.  After an hour, while your thoughts are elsewhere, it’s amazing how much ground you cover.  Before you know it, you’re half way there.

Milestones in life have a way of reminding us where we are.  We look back and see how far we’ve come.  We evaluate our place in time and either see, if we’re young, how much there is left to do or, if we’re older, how much has passed.

David in Psalm 39 begs God to impress on him how short life is.  It’s a perspective of reality that we all need to assess our purpose and performance.

Life is a succession of breaths.  Each one is meaningful.
