This wonderful book, in the collection of the National Fencing museum, was written (in Italian and Latin) by Alessandro Senese and published in 1660. After extensive front matter (dedications, a letter to the reader, and so on), there is a detailed discussion of fencing theory and a series of illustrated techniques. This is followed by a section of theory in Latin.
The download is a full-colour PDF (250Mb) and a complete set of JPGs. You are welcome to the RAW image files too (at about 25mb per image), just contact us at spada.press and we'll arrange to share them with you.
The book is free, but all donations to the cause are welcome! The more money these photos raise, the more facsimiles we can produce, and the faster we can get our extensive back catalogue of images up and online.
