Collateral Ligament Sprains involve damage to the connective tissues at the sides of the knee joint. They are nearly always traumatic in origin, occurring as a result of an impact or injury whilst playing sport.
The following symptoms are associated with a Collateral Ligament Sprain:
- Pain and tenderness when the injury site is touched.
- Redness, swelling and bruising that refers down the fascia towards the foot.
- Pain and apprehension when standing.
- Difficulty flexing or extend the knee.
Collateral Ligament Sprains in most cases are not serious. However, without treatment recovery times are long and the risk of re-injury is high.
Our treatment guide will show you how to manage the pain and accelerate the body’s natural healing process. Strengthening and mobilisation exercises will help you achieve normal pain free movement and prevent re-injury.
