How to think like no one else
You're smart, a genius even
But you fail to embrace this fact as a general rule.
Things like fear - dishonesty - laziness can add up into craziness:
- Murdered Momentum
- Emptied Energy
- Sunken Sadness

Your mode of being in the world and of seeing yourself in it are imaginary.
But they still determine the rules you play by.
Your actions are based upon your beliefs, some of which were planted in you.
Some of which you programmed yourself.
You have accepted as true a series of ideas, they frame your experience.
You can reframe your experience.
The mind has features, and these features can be trained.
You know this.
Haven't you sucked at almost everything when you started?
Course you did.
Did you get better?
Course you did.
A lot of times, though, you got better at things that don't serve you well.
You get better at what you do and how you do it.
You think what you think repeatedly.
"Why'd you write this book Chance?"
Good question...Chance. (Yes I just broke the 4th wall)
I broke the rule just now.
A lot of marketing guys would say that's foolish.
I did it because I want to get real with you.
I've done a lot of foolish things in my life:
- Obsessive perfectionism
- Addictions to drugs
- Addiction to cigarettes
- Habitual destructive behaviors
I don't do those things now.
I'm not perfect, but I'm better than yesterday.
I put the work in today to be better tomorrow.
It all starts in the mind. You can direct much of it.

By learning skills and leverage points to reprogram my mind.
It is a bit freaky.
You'll learn to fundamentally alter who you are.
And then you'll do it.
This can be pretty frightening to a lot of people.
But there are aspects of your life that you don't like.

There are parts of your personality that you want to change.
