In sharing my thoughts and knowledge with you on the pages that follow, I want to be clear: this book is more than just a collection of recipes. This book is about food as a source of healing, and how it can empower you; its aim is beyond firing your taste buds, as a Masterchef recipe would perceive as the highest of achievements. Instead, it is about helping to nourish your body as well as satisfying your primal needs.
I have wanted to write about my enlightened way to cook for the health of you—the reader—ever since I started sharing this passion with others and witnessing the profound changes it had on their lives, as it did on my family. I want you to learn to love growing, finding, preparing, cooking, and serving delicious and healthy meals, as well as seeing your friends or even customers enjoy eating it. Fueling your wellbeing through my favorite recipes that also tell a story, I will teach you how to focus on your primal needs first. Relationships, spirituality, careers and more. Food becomes secondary. If you do not take care of your primal needs first, you will fall prey to the forces driving the world’s obesity problems such as primal stresses.
Unless you have spent your entire life hidden from the perils of society, living off the land in a self-sustainable jungle community, you, like millions of others, are very much aware (and should be becoming concerned!) about the increasing danger of living in a modern society such as ours. You will have noticed feeling more stressed when going about your daily activities, such as commuting from your home, traveling, subjecting yourself to dangerous toxins and overworking.
But there is a greater threat that is far more menacing than what we encounter in our physical surroundings; it is destructive in ways we can hardly imagine because we cannot see its potential threat for causing us serious harm. In a manner of speaking, the world we inhabit (i.e our neighborhood, work place, local establishments, classroom etc.) has become a battleground for controlling our minds. If we do not know how to protect ourselves with wise discernment, we will easily fall prey to the mental and psychological assaults from external influences, such as our neighbors, bosses, teachers, the media, and corporate food and pharmaceutical companies. Before we recognize this insidious danger, with very little struggle, we will have unintentionally surrendered control of our mind... the most precious thing we own.
