The purpose of this guide is to assist you in entering your higher education income, expenses, and withholding into the free version of TurboTax(R).
The intended users are funded graduate students in the US who are US citizens or residents (for tax purposes).
Each document following the Introduction comprises step-by-step screenshot instructions for how to enter higher education income (whether reported on a W-2, 1098-T, or 1099 or not at all), expenses (whether reported on a 1098-T or not at all), and withholding (whether reported on a W-2 or 1099 or not at all).
The guide is limited to explaining how to enter your various higher education numbers into TurboTax(R); for help with determining exactly what those numbers are and where to find them, please join How to Complete Your 2018 Grad Student Tax Return (and Understand It, Too!)
