About this edition:

From the author - Reading this story (in a high school setting) would be a good way to introduce the students to read Shakespeare. It's a starting point for them to start to find familiar ground in Shakespeare's writings, by comparing them to a story with modern elements and the 'kilig' factor that they can easily relate to. For university students, it's an interpretation of a well-known text. If they're familiar with the way Shakespeare writes, they can see it in a modern context and discuss if this works or not. This novella was written because of my love for the playfulness and wit of Shakespeare's writing, I'm not shy about calling it an adaptation. Hopefully reading it will let the student be more open to exploring other his other plays and find out why people are still reading it, and writing about it. This is where my list of suggested viewing may help too.

Book description:

What happened to Beatrice and Benedick?

They used to be in love. They used to be together. You know, the kind of together that was all about holding hands and giggles, kisses and walks along the Potomac River. That is, until something got in the way and turned them into angry, bitter rivals that can’t seem to get along. They can’t even sit down together and work on a project that could change everything for Bea and Claudia’s little paper company. But why is Claudia telling Hiro that Bea is totally head-over-heels for Ben? Why is Hiro convinced that Ben think that Bea is the one?

Set in Washington DC, this book is a modern adaptation of William Shakespeare’s celebrated comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.
