This is part 1 of a longer audio. I share two emails I received from sober penpals - one with a good outcome, one with a not (yet) good outcome. I also tell the story about my first cousin which perhaps you've heard me talk about before.
If booze is an elevator that only goes down, we step off the elevator early. We don't ride down. Not all stories have happy endings. So we want to get off the booze elevator now. Right now. Here. This floor.
Comments from the chat:
RachelBDoesntDrinkHereAnymore: "Agree. I'm feeling good and solid but it's a good reminder not to let down my guard."
franny2233: "I have had that thought before during a while sober: 'you're probably fine now, it's all better, you could just have one drink - rejoin society, be a normal person!'. Then 2 months later I'm drinking more than i was before."
