Reframing can help us to see basic things in a different way. I mean, we can even learn to see how the dishwasher 'should' be loaded from a different perspective!

We can also see *ourselves* differently. and the easiest way for reframing to work, is when we involve another person, someone who can say “have you thought of it in a different way?” or your best friend who says, "oh really? when you said that I automatically saw it like this ..."

If every event has multiple interpretations, then this idea of reframing is an important skill for us to learn. Otherwise we walk through life resentful and irritated, not ever considering that our head has ONE interpretation of things and that our outlook can be shifted and changed.

(in this audio, i also mention my special kind of teaspoon-by-teaspoon counselling and the ‘micro-coaching’ that I use with sober penpals, and the dangers of excavation-therapy for us newly sober folks. Oh, and i also mention how this exact same thing can be used in marriage counselling!)
