"When the door opens, you walk through it."
How do you thrive in the situation that you have, with the hand you've been dealt?
How is raking leaves a metaphor for being sober? OK, well you should have seen my hands after I raked the leaves (for the first time in my entire life).
Feedback from listeners on this particular episode …
RGG: “This show was excellent. I think you just talking about your everyday life and relating it to sobriety is so helpful. It allows for reflection but not in a heavy way. I don’t know if that makes sense. You bring so much humour in and I think that’s so important (humour) to get through tough times. I find laughing so healing. For all of us penpals, sobriety is a big part of our lives, and we are still learning to navigate this new way of being. I look forward to your radio shows and I always feel happy and calm after.”

EMW: “Hello Belle, your radio show today had me cracking up really the whole time! It is just such a great analogy to getting sober (learning how to rake leaves). I’m one of those people who has always just KNOWN how to rake leaves my whole life, and didn’t need to learn it because we just had always done it or I’d seen people do it etc. So from the perspective of you not knowing how to do it (I mean, how would you, with the type of housing you spent your life in), it’s like it’s OK for me not to know how to be sober because, really, while I have had time in the past (4-ish years), I didn’t really have the support or guidance that I now have and I wound up not being able to get to learn to do it right, so I constantly had some blisters on my hands. And some were becoming permanent because I wasn’t learning how to be sober correctly for me.”
You can have a listen and lemme know what you think :) relating real life stories to be sober is helpful? le hugs, belle xo
