Shading Nerd Kit (v_1.0.1) for Foundry Modo is a set of scripts, pie menus, and around 200 new thumbnails and icons both for preset browser and shader tree. All those things were created to make the shading workflow in modo - easier, quicker, and nicer.
The new Custom Preset Browser for the Shader Tree with over 160 new thumbnails for almost all of the modo procedural textures and materials - allows better discoverability of sometimes not very well explored procedural texturing capabilities of modo.
Enhanced system (a mixture of scripts and pie menus) of adding layers to the shader tree and changing their effects - making your workflow more efficient with much fewer clicks (yay!).
Redesigned shader item icons and additional texture type icons for better distinction and overall more pleasant look which helps find them quickly without looking at their names.
Option to set default material type for newly created modo material to principled.
V1.0.1 - What’s new / changes ?
- Modo 15 python 3.7 compatibility.
- All Modo legacy layouts (Model, UV, Paint, Setup, Game, Render) got their own Shading Nerd palette placed above the shader tree.
- Legacy layouts (except Render layout) palettes are now showing up only when the Shading/Shaders/Shader Tree tab is clicked. (mimicking the behaviour of main Modo layout)
- [BUG 0001] Change / hotfix to the method for setting default material type on creation which allows to use one undo instead of two - to undo material creation.
Modo Compatibility (tested):
There is no need for individual kit per modo version (for now, if additional feedback will prove otherwise - the kit will be updated to reflect and fix any issues)
Modo 15.0 - works as intended
Modo 14.x - works as intended
Modo 13.x - works as intended
Modo 12.x - works as intended
! Modo 11.x (with one very minor issue which will be addressed in the first fix in 2 weeks after initial release)
Older versions (tested):
! Modo 90x is supported in a very limited way as add item preset browsers are not in this version - acquire this kit of you please but please be aware that most of the good stuff will not be available to you
Older versions (not tested):
! Modo 10.x - unknown - probably similar to 11.x
! Modo 80x and older - unknown
Future release and planned features:
More to come in the next update (v_1.1.0) which is scheduled for the end of March 2021.
I would love to hear your feedback and modo workflow stories to enhance the shading workflow in modo even more.
One solid planned feature is to add icons, thumbnails and workflow also for NPR kit and VRAY and other material based workflows based on additional user input about their workflow.
