The Simple Way To Add Supers To Your Broadcast
SimpleSupers.com is a PowerPoint app for Windows that generates an alpha channel from your animated slides, and then synchronizes both for real-time integration with your broadcast production switcher.
Version 1. System requirements: Windows 10 or later. PowerPoint 2013 or later, 64 bit version. Laptop or Desktop computer with a minimum of 3 displays.
Main (primary) display is used for PowerPoint app and SimpleSupers controller. Displays 2 and 3 are user selectable for Key and Fill.
Unsupported Features: Generating an alpha channel from 3D Models are not supported with this release. (See workaround under FAQ's.) Some graphs and charts, and text within them are not supported. Object grouping may not be supported. Videos with alpha channels are not supported. Some animations are not supported.
Installation instructions: Please uninstall any previous versions or trial versions before installing this version of SimpleSupers. After paying, you will be sent to the download page and receive your license key. Make sure PowerPoint is not running. After downloading the exe and template, launch the SimpleSupers.exe file. If you see the 'Windows protected your PC' screen, click the 'more info' button, then click 'Run anyway'. The installer will guide you through the installation process. After installation is complete, launch PowerPoint and you will be prompted to enter your license code. You must be connected to the internet for activation. Once activated you will be ready to go. SimpleSupers has been installed in your PowerPoint ribbon. The SimpleSupers license key can only be activated on one computer.
Launch PowerPoint and open the SimpleSupers_Template.pptx file.
The template contains several sample lower thirds with animations, an animated gif, safe area graphic, transparent background graphic, SimpleSupers desktop image, several test patterns, and an Alpha Test Pattern to help you adjust your clip and gain settings if needed. If your production switcher or vision mixer has a 'pre-multiply alpha' option, this usually works well.
Note: For SimpleSupers to process the alpha channel correctly, you must change the background of the slide to a solid fill of black. Do not use a graphic or shape to do this, as any object on the slide will have an alpha generated from it. The Transparent Background Graphic included in the SimpleSupers_Template.pptx file is an aid in designing your slides. Remove that image before ‘Process Alpha’.
To process the alpha channel, navigate to the SimpleSupers tab. Choose your desired Alpha Display monitor with the dropdown box. Press the 'Process Alpha' button. Now press the 'Start Show' button and PowerPoint will minimize and the SimpleSupers Controller will pop up. You can navigate through your slides with the controller. Click the left and right arrows on the controller or press the arrows on your keyboard to advance slides. You can also click on the slide number to jump to that slide. Or you can type the slide number in the box and press enter to jump to that slide. If you don't see all your slide numbers, press the page down or page up buttons to the right of the 'No. of slides:' screen. This will cycle through all of the available slides.
Click the ‘x’ to close the controller and maximize PowerPoint. You can edit your slides, save PowerPoint, then Process Alpha and Start Show to begin again.
