The integumentary system comprises of everything on the outside of your body like skin, hair, finger and toe nails, etc. Skin is the frontline defense system that protects the organism that it is wrapped around. It also explains what is going on inside the body. Melanin gives skin its elasticity. It acts as a security system that sends messages throughout the human body. There are times when melanin acts on its own without consulting the other parts of the body. Melanin knows what to do intuitively.
