Skills at the bottom of the list are more saturated, and there's more competition. To be useful to society, learn about the problems that people experience in the saturated labor markets. You can build products to help them compete against one another.
2 - Also attached: Cities, ranked by where more dollars are invested into recruiting professionals. This list suggests which cities want to avail the most amount of money to talented and skilled workers. Why does the list of 700+ high paying skills focus on DC? Because, DC ranks highest on this 'cities list'. See where your nearest big city stacks up.
Use this list to create your own curriculum.
- Learn and practice a mixture of skills with a high demand/supply ratio, that have many job openings and those that might be "emerging" with very few job openings.
- Learn and practice a mixture of skills that have high and low demand/supply ratios. Learn the problems that the people in saturated markets are facing, to support high ROI product development.
Nothing and nobody can stop you from acquiring, practicing, and BUILDING SOMETHING using high demand + low supply skills, and charging a reasonable fee for access to your product and/or service. Brag and boast about your new talents and what you've built, and ask people with money (e.g., governments, big businesses, and wealthy people) to provide you compensation to work.
WHO HAS TIME TO WASTE studying something where there are few jobs, and the labor market is already super saturated? Aim to achieve a HIGHER RETURN on your dollars, invested into advancing your education.
