"Doing what you love!" is a practical guide on how to start thinking your career in International Development. From typical doubts from students, how to organise yourself to where to start looking for a job. I hope you enjoy it! I offer no magical solutions, just what I learned from my experience and from friends' experiences of what works and most definitely does not work in this field.
About me: I am a development worker, currently working for UNDP, however I’ve been working for 9 years for several organisations such as UNLIREC, the Red Cross, Saferworld, UNFPA, UNICEF and others. I’ve worked in Violence Prevention, Participation and Empowerment in Latin America, the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa and the Pacific. But mostly, I understand the challenges of this field and the doubts most people have before getting in this profession. I have tried to write something as practical and clear as I could that would address the main concerns from students and people who are trying to make a career change and start doing what they love.
