MODULE 1 CONTENT – Becoming a DAD, The Hero Mentality, Hyenas and Stress
This module will contain one recording discussing The Hero Mentality, Hyenas and stress. The Hero Mentality is a trap that men fall into far too frequently. We grow up watching super heroes on TV and inevitably grow up trying to be just like them: brave, courageous and protective of the people we love. Fathers instinctively protect our families from the burdens of the world, often to the cost of our own well-being. Hyenas are those burdens that subdue us when we’re most vulnerable and alone. Stress is a major factor in testosterone and chronic health problems in men and they must be addressed. Men generally under-report symptoms or take enough pre-emptive action to take care of themselves. This module will cover all related material in Raising Testosterone.
MODULE 2 CONTENT - MOVEMENT
As kids, we grow up idolizing our favorite sports heroes. It becomes simply a cultural norm to play sports year round and dream of one day making it to the pros. The fact is, less than 2% of all high school athletes make it to play at the professional level of any sport and most of us enter adulthood with no idea what to do next. Physical education sucks in our public school system in terms of teaching us how to perform basic weightlifting movements or educate us as to how to move our bodies in a way we can fall back on later in life. This module will contain one recording discussing the exercise component of Raising Testosterone in terms of application: Why Sports Won’t Cut It, Movement vs. Exercise, and the kettlebell.
MODULE 3 CONTENT: NUTRITION
In my upbringing food was thought of as two things: a way to feed yourself when you're hungry and a way to celebrate a life event. The school system doesn't teach us much in terms of nutrition and adults generally misunderstand the connection between their health and their health. There are many things that factor into your health but nutrition is possibly the most misunderstood. Chronic undereating, overeating and poor shopping habits can have a major downstream effect on your body. Module 3 covers the nutrition end of things in terms of food selection, calculating macros, food marketing and budgeting for food.
MODULE 4 CONTENT: SLEEP
Darkness died a long time ago. I spent most of my high school and college days trying to see how little I could sleep and long I could get away with it. The problem is many adults never stopped that behavior since college. If we're not staying up late to go to a bar, we're staying up late to finish a project or to binge-watch a series on Netflix.
Americans sleep habits are getting poorer by the decade and it's a major factor in work performance and health. This module will cover the metabolic effects of sleep deprivation and provide ways to fix your sleep immediately.
BONUS Module 5 – Get the family involved
Our example as fathers sends a message to our children. When they see us value our well being and how it helps us contribute to others, they will have a better appreciation for it later on in life. Whether they follow in your footsteps remains to be seen. But they at least will have a set point as to what it looks like to be a grown man who cares and respects his body and his ability to effectively contribute to his community.
