Anchor is Nate Houge's newest and most rock and rolliest album ever.  Teaming up with his band Welaware, the four recorded this album live to tape under the watchful eye of Michael Morris at The Barn in Northfield MN.  Two electric guitars, bass and drums - a little distortion and a little feedback and a lot of love when into this album.  Anchor brings to mind many of Nate's favorite bands: VOL, Uncle Tupelo, Old 97's, and Richard Buckner, yet remains decidedly Nate.
Along with an edgier sound, Anchor's lyrics take a few risks as well addressing corrupt political and religious institutions, not veering from the darkness of one's own soul, placing high value on community, and finding comparisons between broken hearts and stolen bikes.
At the core of Anchor is the idea that those things which keep us rooted are the very things that move us forward.  In this spirit of a hopeful tomorrow Nate Houge & Welaware drop the Anchor.
