Alone Across America: 10,000 Miles and 22 States of Motorcycling on America's Backroads
This download includes the book in PDF, EPUB, MOBI and even HTML formats. It should be compatible with nearly any device.
This is a novella about two journeys - one taken in September of 2014, when I was brand new to motorcycling, and another trip in August of 2015. Together, these trips comprise over 10,000 miles of mostly off-asphalt and entirely off-highway riding.
The first trip is mainly centered around the Trans-America Trail (or TAT as it is known to adventure motorcycling die-hards), a project by Sam Correro to map a coast-to-coast route in the United States of entirely dirt and gravel roads. I rode east-to-west, completing the entirety of the TAT.
The second trip, undertaken a year later, was the "reverse leg" of that trip from the year before - I rode west to east, up the Cascades and across the Rockies, through the Great Plains and finishing in Minnesota.
When taken as a whole, these journeys represent a long look at the backroads, the "off-piste", the lesser-seen sides of America. I hope that this novella inspires you to take your own similar journey - and I hope you discover, as I did, that adventure, exotic locales and incredible scenery is available not just around the world, but in our own backyards.
