Bedlam Noise Apparatus for After Effects (Windows Exclusive)
Bedlam Noise Apparatus is out! And now After Effects users have a powerful noise generator in their arsenal. You can navigate to the second video in the header to see the plugin in action, or watch the promo, which is the first video in the header. It utilizes all the noises this plugin has to offer.
What does this plugin provide? Six, yes, count 'em, six type of noises. All the noises have separate, but similar controls. These controls include:
- Seed: By increasing and decreasing the seed, you move the speckles of the noise.
- Multiplier: It uses Adobe SDK's angle parameter, because angles revolve infinitely, and we need to multiply the seed with a number that never ends. Therefore, for example, by adding `time` expression to the multiplier field, it will revolve until the comp's time runs out.
- Zoom: It simply zooms in, and out of the speckles.
There are three global controls:
- Color (you can also use Tritone effect).
- Noise Mode. Type of the noise.
- Blend Type. If you use Add, it won't honor the alpha channel. But if you use Multiply, it will honor the Alpha channel, making it possible to apply noise to text.
But what types of noise does this plugin have, you may ask? Well, to answer with brevity:
- Gold: A noise suited for being used as grain. Yes, me old mucker, you can apply any type of noise to an image, and it's fast because it uses the GPU (the plugin is made using OpenGL) and use it as a grain.
- Generic: A naive algorithm. I wouldn't call it the best noise in the toolbox, but it's certainly something.
- Perlin Classic: Useful for procedural texture generation.
- Perlin: A modern iteration of Perlin, done by the man himself. Based on one of his papers.
- Simplex: It has a certain je ne sais quoi that I can't put my hands on. It's certainly more refined than the others. As far as procedural texture generation goes, I would call it "best" in the toolbox.
- Voronoi: It generates wonderful patterns that you can use in your motion graphics.
Well, that's all I have to say about my plugin. I wanted to sell it for less than $5, I want people to use my plugin. I'm not really looking for financial gain. In fact, my plugin is open source, and you can find its repository in my Github profile, amongst many other wonderful things:
