Look, it's easy to dismiss habits are trivial (as I once did) but if there's one thing that I've learned in the last eight years it's this: good habits are the gateway to a journey of personal growth that will change your life.
Over the past 8 years, I have invested close to 10,000 hours (obsessive much?) studying the mindset, psychology, and habits of peak performers, and along the way, building multi-year streaks in meditation, exercising, reading, and more.

Let me give you the backstory: Growing up, spontaneity was a big part of my identity. I loved thinking of myself as exciting and unpredictable. The freedom to do what I want, when I want, with who I want, has always been important for me, but as with most things in life, it worked until it didn't. It's one thing to be an eight-year-old with no commitment (other than one to have fun) and another to be a twenty-five-year-old. The age when I started my first online company.
I had finally gotten the dream job: to work on something I cared deeply about that was mine. I didn't have to answer to a boss or show up at work at an arbitrary time just because that's how it works. I was in heaven. Fast forward six months later, it was a very different story. Even though I was consistently working more — 12 to14 hour every day and often on the weekends too — I couldn't really tell you where my time and energy went. On top of that, as a first-time founder, I was making all the cliche mistakes I had read to avoid.
Not long after, my first ever panic attack struck.
Distraught, overworked, stressed out, and isolated in a foreign country, I decided there and then that I was willing to try anything as long as it got me out of that hole. Including suspending my beliefs because, frankly, I had to admit that they were the reason I was in that hole!
That was when I stumbled into the world of habits and peak performance. From what I gathered early on, most of the greatest artists, businessmen, athletes, basically anyone who has achieved great success had one thing in common: good habits.
As I immersed myself into the topic, I read voraciously, and more importantly, I began running countless experiments on myself: from fasting to meditating, sleeping to cold showers, many of which I tried before they were as trendy as they are today.
In that process, I have refined an approach that has allowed me to do a set of pretty astonishing, previously unimaginable things along the way including multi-year streaks in mediation, exercising, reading, and more.
Without a doubt, my habits and personal growth journey have been my most valuable experience and asset in the past decade. It is the foundation on which everything good in my life is based on.
