PRODUCTION NOTE:
There are light cues for the stage lights.  Try not to throw the stage into total darkness.  Audiences tend to freak out a bit.  Silhouette lighting might work well or low light.

THOUGHTS:
John 1:4-5 says “In him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.”  Jesus is the light of the world.  We are his conduits.

Matthew 5:14-16 addresses what we should do with that light: “You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

But as the keepers of that light, something happens to us.  Mark 4:21-22 speaks of that problem: “He said to them, ‘Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed?  Instead, don’t you put it on its stand?  For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open.”

What good is that light if we hide it?  We hold the light that a dark world needs.  Yet we are afraid of exposing our faith.  What is our excuse?  Do we think we must arrive in heaven with fully charged flashlights?  It would be better to stand before god with tired, worn out, beat-up flashlights, then with sparkling clean, unused ones.

THEMES:
WITNESSING, SHINING YOUR LIGHT, SHARING, JESUS, EVANGELISM.
