Imagining a future without cars... in a car.

CAR SICK is an initiative designed to get the public to rethink their reliance on cars and become inspired through fun and games to commit to a future with far less dependence on private, gas guzzling vehicles. The project is based on a unique method for helping people generate alternative futures and includes a workshop design for rethinking the future of freeways.

A workshop that takes place on a freeway.

The CAR SICK workshop experience takes place in a car, van, or school bus while driving up and down the 110 (from DTLA to Pasadena and back). The purpose of the workshop is to teach participants about the history of America’s oldest freeway while inspiring everyone to imagine a future that is less reliant on cars. CAR SICK is fun for everyone. CAR SICK is also a great fit for unconventional school field trips in Los Angeles. In an educational context (9-12th grade), CAR SICK can serve as an immersive history lesson while also introducing students to strategic foresight.
