A Cashless Society – a Talking Points lesson for English reading & speaking

A Cashless Society – a Talking Points lesson for English reading & speaking

This is part of the Talking Points lesson series for Intermediate to Advanced students.

If you are teaching in Asia, you may find that some countries have totally adopted the idea of a cashless society. No one uses cash any more.

This lesson plan presents both sides of the argument – to use cash or to use an app.

Which one is better? And why?

If you are teaching teenagers or young adults, they may only use an app to pay for things. If you play devil’s advocate, you could get them talking as they try to convince you why you should stop using cash to pay for things.

This is a very topical subject to teach in your English or ESL class. And as such can create much discussion and debate.

The lesson comes complete with:

• a 500-word article

• a table of essential vocabulary

• a big list of questions for discussion

Start the class with the three opening questions and then do the reading. Then you can go through all the vocabulary – or set it as homework for the students to do later.

Then there is a big list of questions that are designed to get your students talking.

It comes in easy to use PDF format, ideal for printing for your needs. Use it again and again for your English/ESL classes.
