Cattle in the Cane (Traditional, U.S.)

This really fun tune shifts from A Mixolydian to A Aeolian. It shows up occasionally in old-time circles but it is well-known in Bluegrass circles as a vehicle for improvisation especially in the B part. The origin is uncertain but the earliest recorded version dates to the 1920’s. Just speculating, but I suspect it is one of these tunes that started life quite differently and evolved to its current form. I offer a bunch of variations that I hope you will explore. I also provided multiple backup parts. I hope you will attack them all! Much fun to play!
