If your Air for Android App exceeds the Google Play store 100 MB size limit this ANE is the solution to get your App into the store.
This ANE is designed to work with OBB files generated with the Android SDK JOBB tool. Files are loaded directly out of the OBB. No unzipping necessary. The files are available immediately after download and there is no noticeable delay when loading.
We have successfully tested many different file types to load from the OBB, including .swf files.
This extension not only reads files directly out of the OBB and returns Actionscript File objects, but also takes care of loading OBB files from Google Play. Usually, the OBB files are downloaded automatically together with your APK, but if the user deletes them or they can’t be downloaded for some reason, this ANE is the solution to various scenarios.
If OBB files must be downloaded separately, you receive progress, status and complete events information. Within the progress listener function, you have access to percentage, speed, remaining time and loaded MB data, which you can present to the user (the Android notification bar also displays this kind of information including a loading bar, text and app icon).
