Childless or Child-Free? – a Talking Points Lesson Plan for English Reading & Speaking

This is part of the Talking Points lesson series.

Quite a sensitive subject but one that will definitely create much debate and discussion in the classroom. In some countries with a very traditional culture, the idea of a woman being child-free could be met with disbelief.

However, this is a topic that you can use in your English or ESL class to great effect. You can also use it in a class for IELTS speaking.

The lesson comes complete with:

  • introductory questions
  • a 500-word article
  • reading comprehension questions
  • a table of essential vocabulary
  • discussion questions

Start the class with the three opening questions and then do the reading. Then you can go through all the vocabulary – or set it as homework for the students to do later.

Finally there is a big list of questions that are designed to get your students talking.

It comes in easy to use PDF format, ideal for printing for your needs. Use it again and again for your English/ESL classes.
