This is a spectacularly peaceful piece translates roughly to “Kitty My Love”! It feels “mixolydian” in the opening couple of measures, starting on an A chord, followed by a G chord, and doesn’t hit the I chord (D) until the 7th measure. How cool is that?!! If you don’t know what any of that means, the journey to find out will be worth it. You have the sense that is going so where and what a great journey getting there with a few surprises on the way: a C and an E7 chord. The tune provides an excellent lesson how to think "outside of the box" when developing a chord progression. My approach in these videos is to try to get everyone to see the chord progression right from the beginning and fully integrate the melody, the accompaniment, and arranging ideas by “seeing” the chord progression as the common link. Hopefully, you will be inspired to incorporate some of your own ideas.
