Over a decade ago, I found myself in a corporate job out of college when my body started to shut down. You name it, I had it. You name the doctor, I saw them. Over 500 doctors, Mayo Clinic, two bone marrow biopsies, muscle biopsies, Lyme disease, PCOS, Candida, Leaky Gut, C-diff Colitis, Hypothyroidism, Epstein Bar….the list goes on and on and on. I was put on pain killers, steroids and water pills – Band-Aid solutions – at the age of 22 and was told that was all doctors could do for me. I felt lost; I felt confused and most of all I felt like no one was on my team. I had to figure out how to be a team of one and heal my own life. I learned that I could not just settle and listen to one doctor – I had to take little bits of knowledge from all the doctors I encountered and put together the pieces of my own puzzle. I am delighted to be by your side as you embark on your own health journey. I am here to share with you all the information that I have learned over my ten years of illness and take a holistic approach to your healing process. And I thought I was healed. I developed all the other programs – arthritis, asthma, candida, Celiac Disease, constipation, dysbiosis etc., - but failed to address my hormones and metabolism, which was the most difficult part. No one really knows how to balance hormones, which I realized after working with numerous doctors who just wanted to hand me synthetic hormone creams or pills. I had to embark on my own journey to balance my hormones and understand WHAT is causing the hormones and metabolism to be out of balance and then correct that, instead of just putting a drug or supplement over the symptoms of hormonal imbalance.
My metabolic and hormonal healing journey started in my 30’s - I was eating a very healthy diet while also engaging in regular exercise. This kind of health-oriented lifestyle would make anyone think I would have stayed trimmed and even have lost weight, but on the contrary, I was gaining weight and had no idea why! I was baffled, which is what got me incredibly interested in the field of weight loss resistance. I learned that for many people, the reason behind their inability to lose weight is actually an issue within their gut, liver, gallbladder, thyroid and other organs that’s preventing weight loss.
Losing weight is NOT just about eating less and exercising frequently. There is MUCH more that goes into this equation, as I’m sure many of you have already realized. There are many layers that contribute to a healthy metabolism, such as proper and healthy communication between your gut, your brain and your hormones; which all play a main role in whether you lose or gain weight. Healing metabolic damage can be done, which is what we’re going to talk about in this program.
Your gut (GI system) interacts with all of your other systems in your body, every single day. It also has a HUGE role in regulating your HORMONES! This is what was going on with me; my progesterone, estrogen and testosterone were a MESS! So no matter what I ate, how much I exercised, meditated, etc., the weight was not coming off and I was actually gaining weight for the first time in my life! I was shocked, and that’s when I decided to research our hormonal systems, and the impact they have on whether we gain or lose weight. If you have been struggling with weight loss, the answer can actually be in balancing these organs Changes in your hormones impact your other systems and as a result you may experience weight gain or weight loss resistance, despite your best efforts and dieting!
What is Metabolism All About?
A slow metabolism is indicative of inflammation in the body. Inflammation can be caused by anything from stress, mold, pesticides, mercury, hidden parasites, bacteria and viruses as well as from eating an inflammatory diet filled with table salt, sugar, white flours, refined vegetable oils and processed foods, all of which lack nutrients that our body needs on a daily basis to function optimally. Most of the time, the root cause of the inflammation is toxicity, which is why it’s key to address detoxifying the body on a daily basis. Detoxing allows the body to get rid of the toxins that are stored in our fat, tissues and fascia as well as in our organs! Don’t worry, detox is not about depriving yourself or going on a cleanse. This program walks you through how to get to the root cause of your slow metabolism and how to change your lifestyle so that you can live pain-free.
A Different Approach to Healing
You may be struggling to maintain a strong metabolism, but have never looked beyond Western medicine to Integrative/Functional Medicine, which gets to the root cause of health issues instead of putting a Band-Aid approach on the problem, which is what Western medicine does. This may sound overwhelming and trust me, I know because I felt overwhelmed many years ago when I embarked on this journey. Western medicine failed to address my health issues and couldn’t help me anymore, which is how I discovered this other way of healing the body.
