Discover how to create mixed-media collages by combining photographic elements and digital paint with Corel Painter. The course includes dozens of image assets which can be used for the assignments. Students may also acquire their own images to use for the assignments by shooting digital photos, using their own artwork or downloading images from the web. Students will complete two assignment collages which will each have their own themes. The themes are Pop Art and Surrealism which will introduce students to fun and exciting ways of making art with Corel Painter.

1. Course Intro & Orientation
Learn about Aaron Rutten, his technique and the course objectives. Learn how to locate and use the course resources and review prerequisite reference materials.
2. Warm Up
The Warmup is a video presentation which gives students an overview of the fundamental principles behind creating digital art collages with Corel Painter.
3. 'Hands' Collage (Week 1)
OBJECTIVE: Learn how to composite a variety of images to create a collage in a Pop Surrealism style. Students may use their own images or choose images from the course resources.
4. 'Sunflower' Collage (Week 2)
OBJECTIVE: Learn advanced composition techniques as you create a collage in a Pop Art style. Students may use their own images or choose images from the course resources.
