Naomi Ressler revels in the predictability of her life. She loves her job as co-owner of a small clothing and jewelry boutique, and spends most of her free time making new and exciting pieces for the shop. Making jewelry helps her honor her mother’s memory, as does wearing the simple necklace she received from her mother at a young age. At the time she was told it would protect her. She believed that when she was eight, but now she knows better. Magic and protection charms don’t exist. Her life is normal and boring – just the way she likes it.

That is until she meets Kai.

He’s tall, dark, and handsome, sure. Beyond that, he’s got a multitude of scars and a mysterious necklace of his own. When he walks into her life, everything changes. Demons come out of the woodwork, and her mother’s necklace fails to protect her. Worse still, they seem to be targeting her specifically. It’s up to her and Kai to confront the ultimate evil – a master of all demons – before he kills them. Naomi loved her perfect, predictable life. Now she has to train to fight demons, use magic, and enchant the world around her with her newfound powers. On top of all that, it’s getting harder and harder to resist Kai’s allure. Life with him is dangerous and confusing, but she can’t stay away, even knowing that being with him might cause them both to be killed.
