Durang's Hornpipe (Traditional, U.S.)

I hope you will explore all that this very simple and relatively well-known old-time/Bluegrass tune has to offer. Concepts include “seeing” a chord progression in the structure of a tune, some of the advantages of using a left-hand lead (and for that matter using a consistent lead), “swing”, accent shifts, how to create variations using drone notes, note replacement, the somewhat perilous effects of toying with the “hooks” or “anchors” of a tune, and a variety of rhythm ideas and more. My recommendation for this tune is to take the first A and B parts and nail it down. Then move to the variations one at a time. Then try to mix things up!
