Uhl is a place of legends, where grandiose tales hold dominion; where a loom of imagination weaves astonishing fabrications; where wonder, fear, and--less often--triumph, are the order of the day.

Start your journey in this collection by strapping yourself in as Aaron, sorcerer's apprentice and alchemist, seeks mastery over elemental forces in The Five Elements (The Alchemancer: Book One). Then step away from civilization for a time to immerse yourself in the frontier and its dangers as Jerrick Bur, King's Patroller, attempts to unravel the mystery of the missing rangers in The Hall of the Wood. Last, get ready to prowl the main streets and back alleys of Alchester with the Assassin Without a Name in Fine Wine, Killing the Dead, and Night of Zealotry (collectively, The Killing Knife).

Tales of Uhl is approximately 850 pages long and contains the following two short stories, novelette, and two full-length novels:

Fine Wine (short story)

Abelard has made enemies. The Assassin Without a Name is sent to deal with him. But death isn't always the answer.

Killing the Dead (short story)

The priests purged one of their own with holy fire. Now they need the Assassin Without a Name to finish the job.

Night of Zealotry (novelette)

Take out the mark, retrieve the scroll, and avoid getting killed by his Black Guard protectors. That was the job. Simple enough, or so the Assassin Without a Name thought, until he finds himself smack in the middle of three organizations, each willing to kill to possess the item he just stole.

Hall of the Wood (novel)

All is not right in the Simarron. On his way home to the Ranger Hall of the Wood, Jerrick receives a chilling warning: the rangers are dead, the Simarron Woods, thrown into peril. Nearby Homewood has issued a plea for help, a summonings which Kayra Weslin, knight errant, and her chronicler, Holly, answer. Along with Murik Alon Rin'kres, an eslar sorcerer who harbors a secret purpose all his own, the four attempt to unravel the mystery of the missing rangers. They soon find tales of their demise frighteningly untrue.

The Five Elements (novel)

Aaron wants nothing more than to study his tomes, perform his experiments, and spend time with his closest friend, Shanna. Substitute the occasional romp about the city for the books and plenty of games of crutchit for the smelly alchemicals, and Shanna is just fine with that too.

But such routines are thrown into chaos when an elemental attack levels their home. Aaron thinks Shanna killed, while Aaron himself is forced to flee for his life. For Shanna, who survives that fateful night, the greatest adventure of her life is about to begin. Only the worst of nightmares awaits Aaron: pursued by dwarves, hell hounds, and a demon who will not stop until he is dead, the only thing keeping him alive is his own resourcefulness and an eslar mercenary whose reputation as a killer might make him the worst threat of all.
