Evening of Roses (Moshe Dor, Israel)

3 ratings

This Israeli piece is spectacularly beautiful in its simplicity. It is perfect for players of any level. I use it to teach that the chord progression is the foundation of nearly all arranging ideas. I suggest beginning by learning the chord progression with a simple arpeggio backup and proceed through the following ideas: (1) hand separation; (2) three note chords; (3) valley rolls: (4) playing in multiple octaves; (5) fills; (6) drones; (7) tremolos; (8) chord substitutions; (9) creating variations and more.
