Farewell Trion (Traditional, U.S.)

0 ratings

Farewell Trion is fairly widely played in old-time circles. The timing of the irregular (“crooked”) B part and the syncopations throughout makes this piece a bit more challenging than most old-time tunes. I explore how accent shifts, swing and syncopations really make this wonderful old-time tune come alive.

I recorded this tune in a medley: Lady of The Lake (G)/Farewell Trion (C)/Shenandoah Falls (A) on my Journey to the Heartland CD. Also go to YouTube and listen to James Bryan play this tune.
