Ratatouille, the 2007 animated film from Disney/Pixar is a story about the hero’s journey and the choices that transform a fated life into a destined one. Remy’s journey from a rat subsisting on scraps to a grand celebrated Parisian chef is a powerful metaphor for our own desires to leave the known world for one that lies beyond.
In order to achieve a destiny the hero must learn to choose intuitive guidance over the ego’s fear of humiliation and failure. This workshop examines these ideas along with a rich experience of Joseph Campbell’s seminal work on the archetype of the hero’s journey.
This course allows you to watch the film and listen to Jim’s commentary on your iPod or other digital player, taking your time to watch and learn. The companion workbook contains a guide to the archetypes in the film, the hero’s journey as well as contemplative exercises to apply to your own journey.
