Farnam Street Think Week 2016

$500

Think. Reflect. Lean.

Every year Bill Gates takes a think week where he reads and ponders the future. No office politics. No screaming kids. No constant interruptions. Just dedicated time to thinking and reading.

This sounds like a good idea to me.

I'm inviting you to the first annual Farnam Street Think Week March 18-23 in Maui, Hawaii. (I'm flying in the 17th and leaving the 24th.)

Join me for a week of reading on the beach in the mornings, afternoons spent thinking, and evenings with long dinners with fellow participants discussing ideas

(I'll also be learning how to surf, so if you need a laugh feel free to watch or join me.)

If this sounds like your idea of fun — reading, thinking, and hanging around a bunch of like-minded people drinking wine and discussing ideas — then I'll see you there.

I've never done this before so I want to be clear on expectations.

  • Participants are limited in order to keep the conversations intimate.
  • The only organized events will be topic-based dinners each night at a venue reasonably close to the hotel (details still being ironed out). I expect people will spontaneously plan to do stuff together during the day, and that's ok.
  • We have a preferred group rate at the Westin in Maui — starting at $279 a night  (Cancellations resulting in hotel charges are your responsibility.) This is hundreds of dollars a night off the regular room rate.
  • The price includes a welcome dinner on the 18th. It does not include transportation, meals, or hotel. (You are responsible for any cancellation charges incurred on your behalf.)

This is one-time special pricing for the inaugural event.

Can't wait to see you there.
