Casey Driessen’s Exercises & Grooves Workshop Series is a collection of 10 videos to serve as companion pieces to The Chop Notation Project.
[Please note: If you're new to chopping, please check out Techniques & Skills w/ Casey Driessen • Series One: The Chop for a more in-depth look at the basic building blocks of chop technique.]
The Chop Notation Project creates and establishes a standardized music notation to read and write the percussive bowed string technique known as chopping, bringing it up to speed with the current playing practice. Created by Casey with Oriol Saña, and in consultation with other recognized “choppers,” the goal is that a standardized system such as this will enable players and composers a method to share and communicate their musical ideas more easily across the globe.
Over 70 minutes of content, this workshop series demonstrates all 10 notated Exercises & Grooves found within The Chop Notation Project. Each workshop focuses on a specific technique/bow stroke from the included Chop Notation Glossary. Players will have a chance to play along with the grooves at different tempos.
Created in an additive manner, each exercise builds on the one preceding and gets progressively more challenging, finishing with a 16-bar etude using nearly all the notation
[This series assumes you have watched the video detailing the Chop Notation Glossary, freely available at WorldOfChop.com but also included in this download.]
