It’s not our qualifications. It’s our calling.
A table that acts as a counter and some papers on top. Boss may have a name tag.
Applicant: a cheerful, mild mannered guy
Boss: a dedicated worker
No matter what is thrown at the Applicant, he is cheerful and optimistic.
It’s easy to serve God. It’s hard to serve men. We don’t always appreciate one another, plus many times others take advantage of us. But God says this…
Ephesians 6:7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men
We are to look at the men as it if were God. It changes our purpose and motivation of serving. Hezekiah, an Old Testament king, served well.
2 Chronicles 31:20 This is what Hezekiah did throughout Judah, doing what was good and right and faithful before the LORD his God. 21 In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.
Working is a whole hearted exercise. We will prosper as a result of our work. Joshua emphasized the same thing.
Joshua 22:5 But be very careful to keep the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the LORD gave you: to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to obey his commands, to hold fast to him and to serve him with all your heart and all your soul.
Serving isn’t a half-hearted, part-time, some time thing. It’s whole hearted, all the time, every time command.
